The principals of American Steel Buildings have collectively owned, constructed, and/or supplied nearly four million square feet of self storage and other metal buildings across the bulk of the continental United States and cultivated deep relationships with many reputable suppliers and vendors in the industry. Please read below for more information about our team's unique experiences and perspectives on the industry. We are coming together to form this new company in order to develop long-term relationships with customers in the self-storage, industrial, and specialty metal building niches through a focus on product quality, efficiency, and owner-centric processes. Given our previous experiences as project owners/customers, we have a unique perspective on the industry to serve our clients and look forward to collaborating on your projects going forward.
Tyler Scherer began his career in the steel building industry in 2012 working for a small manufacturer in Michigan which built and owned self-storage facilities. He has been a sales manager, crew leader, and worked in 25+ states supplying and building over 3 million square feet of metal building projects and eventually ended as a project
Tyler Scherer began his career in the steel building industry in 2012 working for a small manufacturer in Michigan which built and owned self-storage facilities. He has been a sales manager, crew leader, and worked in 25+ states supplying and building over 3 million square feet of metal building projects and eventually ended as a project manager at a number of metal building companies prior to becoming a Founding Partner at ASB. Tyler has a number of valuable relationships with subcontractors across various states and significant technical expertise in the industry due to his extensive experience. He has strong competencies in all areas of the metal building industry including supplier management/selection, sales, construction management, and project management.
Within ASB, Tyler is the primary customer sales contact, project manager, and supplier relations manager.
John White graduated from Harvard Law School in 2022 and has been involved in well over $100M in multifamily, self storage, and commercial transactions. He is currently a GP partner in over 4000 self-storage units in operation or development and has another 2000+ units scheduled to come online by 2025 as President & CEO of Matador Inves
John White graduated from Harvard Law School in 2022 and has been involved in well over $100M in multifamily, self storage, and commercial transactions. He is currently a GP partner in over 4000 self-storage units in operation or development and has another 2000+ units scheduled to come online by 2025 as President & CEO of Matador Investment Group (matadorinvestmentgroup.com). He is also a licensed attorney and real estate agent in Texas. He previously graduated from Texas Tech University in 2016 with a 4.0 GPA in Petroleum Engineering and worked as a construction and manufacturing quality manager on multimillion dollar projects within the oil and gas industry, while simultaneously owning and operating several retail properties with total revenues of nearly $3M in 2019 prior to their sale.
Within ASB, John focuses on business operations, quality management, legal matters, and IT.
Andrew McMenamin is Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Matador Investment Group. Andrew began his career as a carpenter in home construction and obtained general contractor licenses in Florida and New Jersey in order to further his expertise in the construction industry. Andrew McMenamin is Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Matador Investment Group. Andrew began his career as a carpenter in home construction and obtained general contractor licenses in Florida and New Jersey in order to further his expertise in the construction industry. In 2012, he started his own hardwood flooring dealership. He eventually moved on to single-family flips and has to date bought, renovated and sold more than 30 high-end residential properties with a total value of around $20M. He is also a previously licensed real estate agent in New Jersey and has been a Managing Director at Keter Property Group, a multifamily owner-operator in the Acela/Northeast region.
Within ASB, Andrew focuses on vendor relationships, human resources, and auxiliary construction and business matters.
